In Germany, a country of immigration, participation, equity (and equity of opportunity), belonging, and identities are being negotiated and fought for in a post-migrant (i.e., post-migrant) manner. This also applies to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). ESD aims to contribute to ensuring that people worldwide can live a good life within planetary boundaries and thus addresses a major transformation of society and the economy in their relationship with nature. Consequently, there are many potential interfaces with the debates and negotiation processes surrounding a post-migrant society. However, there has been little clarification of these relationships so far. With our digital exchange series between November 2023 and June 2024, we wanted to change that.
For this purpose, we have joined forces as former Saxon cooperation partners of our project “Together, Just, Global – Concerns, Learning and Action in Post-Migrant Alliances” (2020-2022) for a critical and sympathetic dialogue. Based on our shared experiences, we discussed:
To what extent do ESD and (post-)migrant negotiation processes overlap? To what extent can both fields of practice and debate in education and in general enrich each other? What might be the limits and potential conflicts in this integration? And last but not least: What are the challenges and helpful aspects for the cooperation of (educational) actors with such a concern?
The Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie and the Saxony Development Policy Network hosted six events. Many of the events were recorded and can be viewed afterward.
