“Let's Socialize”: A look back
About the conference and socialization movement in Germany
Whether Lützerath, field occupation, Charité strike or transport turnaround
The social and ecological struggles of recent years have shown that climate justice is always in conflict with private property rights. Instead of a profit-driven economy, we need a democratic economy oriented toward the common good.
Current debates indicate that socialization can be the right lever for this. But how do we get there? With our conference "Let's Socialize – Socialization as a Strategy for Climate Justice," we specifically invited pioneers of practice such as activists, trade unionists, and academics to design a radical practice of socialization that leads to a climate-just future. Together, we developed various project ideas and campaigns aimed at democratic governance from below in the energy, agriculture, care work, and mobility sectors. Together, we reflected on past successes and defeats of socio-ecological struggles and networked into new alliances of diverse actors.
The results of the conference will now be translated into practice and organization. In doing so, we are taking the current debates about socialization from the podiums to the streets and into the workplace! We had an overwhelming response from almost 800 interested participants and were able to spend a fantastic weekend of socialization with over 300 people. We are delighted by the great interest! We have compiled the most important aspects, impressions, and fond memories from the thematic strands for you. Energy, Mobility, Agriculture & Nutrition and Care The conference was a prelude to a broad mobilization of a movement for socialization. Together we now want to fight for a more democratic and fairer economy.
