Degrowth, or post-growth, is a dynamic field of research and a reference point for diverse socio-ecological movements. Post-growth is not only a fundamental critique of the hegemony of economic growth. It is also a vision for a different society that outlines paths for fundamental social change in the face of climate change and global inequality.
This volume, for the first time, attempts a systematic introduction. It discusses the history of growth and economic statistics and reconstructs the central forms of growth critique: ecological, social, cultural, critiques of capitalism, feminist, industrialism, and South-North. It also provides an overview of the most important proposals, concepts, and practices, which it also places in a political context.
