The new Orientation Framework for Global Development unites perspectives from schools, educational administration, academia, and civil society for anchoring education for sustainable development in the education system. Its consideration in classroom instruction and school settings, in teacher training and professional development, and in the development and implementation of curricula underscores the particular importance of future-oriented education with a global perspective. The Orientation Framework (OR) for upper secondary education (grades 11-12) was adopted by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) on October 16, 2025. It is a collaborative project of the KMK and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented and coordinated by Engagement Global.
