Once upon a time?

What it takes to make the economy decolonial

Illustration with different colored shapes on a blue circular backgroundPart of the project: What holds the world together?

The economy is still shaped by colonial thought patterns and structures today. Current raw material policies, supply chains, and the adherence to a growth-oriented economy perpetuate colonial principles. If economics and climate justice are to be reconciled, we must take a closer look at which measures truly address the root causes of global exploitation – and which only seemingly contribute to a more sustainable and just economy.

What would be the core of a truly decolonial economy? What struggles are being waged around this around the world? What are concrete starting points for getting there?

Speaker: Tonny Nowshin is an economist and climate justice activist from Bangladesh. She works to center climate justice through anti-racist and decolonial perspectives.

Language: English with simultaneous interpretation into spoken German
