Workshop

Economy & Society in Education for New Significance and Global Learning

Part 1

How do we engage with the future when the present seems full of crises? How do we deal with feelings of powerlessness when we need spaces for shaping the future? How do we transform complex issues into concrete, lived approaches to global justice – from the climate movement to fair trade?

Today, young people and young adults are well-informed about the climate crisis and unjust global conditions, and studies also confirm their desire to actively shape society. At the same time, these challenges often seem overwhelming, making it difficult to question established ways of thinking. This workshop will explore how the crucial question of a fairer economy and society can be made more accessible to young people in learning environments, and what role Fair Trade plays in this.

We will address this on three levels:
1. We reflect on our attitude as learning facilitators and consider what educational work can achieve.
2. We will learn practical, concrete methods from the resource platform endlich-wachstum.de. These methods attempt to make complex questions of a socio-ecological transformation tangible.
3. We transfer the methods and approaches we have learned to our own work contexts.

The workshop has two parts that build on each other:
Online: Wednesday, November 5, 2025, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Attendance: Saturday, November 8, 2025, 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
