“We need public solidarity”
Labor dispute in Leipzig: Interview with employees of the University Hospital
Care work often remains invisible, unpaid, and undervalued. What would happen if care work were at the center of economic policy—rather than profits and economic growth?
Strengthening alliances, raising the status of care work, and advancing networking: Feminists and trade unionists are invited to a queer-feminist educational weekend in early August in Torgau (Northern Saxony). Let's learn from and with each other!
Whether in hospitals, cleaning, or kitchens: work in the care sector is devalued, made invisible, and poorly paid. At the same time, there is a massive staff shortage, increasing the pressure on care workers. But what can we do to change this?
Why do we always have so little time for cooking, cleaning, and proper self-care? What might a society look like in which care is at the center of economic activity, rather than profits and growth? We will discuss these questions with guests from care professions, academia, and social movements.
In 14 workshops, a panel discussion, and a keynote speech, international speakers discussed care work in times of the Corona crisis, feminism, colonial continuities, global learning, and post-migrant alliances for a just society.
In cooperation with numerous local and national organizations and individuals, we organized a feminist education week for a different economy.
