09. to 11.07.2021 and 14.07.2021 (Online) Workshop: Care in Postmigrant Alliances - Care Utopias from North and South

********

Care for oneself and others, but also a care with the natural environment (engl. Care, arab. رعاية / عناية , span. Cuidado) – in short: taking care of the necessities of life, is central for social togetherness and for a life in respect and interaction with nature. The challenges of the Corona pandemic have shown us once again how important care is in our society. The current economic system runs counter to this vision. It survives only because of the devaluation of care work, through global inequality and through the destruction of ecological livelihoods.

In this workshop we would like to deal with the topic of care over four days. Different topics play a role: work, migration, health, post & decolonial perspectives and utopias for a good life for all.

Day 1 offers time to get to know each other and a basic introduction to the topic.

Day 2 will focus on our own position in relation to care. We then venture together into a change of perspective with a view to global inequalities.

Day 3 & 4 focus on worry in post-migrant alliances. Which utopias from South and North are important or could be starting points? We want to make care work fairly distributed and globally organized according to needs tangible and design steps of implementation. The workshop will take place digitally.

3. bis 5.9.2021 (Leipzig) und 8.9.2021 (Online) BOOKED OUT! Workshop: Recognizing, Questioning and Working on Colonial Continuities

WORKSHOP IS BOOKED OUT! REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

********

In the workshop, we take into focus the structures of power relations and multiple discrimination that we encounter again and again in various contexts. Anti-racist and anti-colonial resistance embedded in global and local interrelationships lead us to different places. In the seminar we investigate the question of how and where concretely colonial continuities become visible. We deal with ourselves in the micro and with the global world in the macro and together we follow the traces of the colonial heritage. We identify where awareness or sensitivity for one’s own behavior is required: positioning, privileges, prejudices. What does that have to do with me? How do I position myself when dealing with forms of discrimination such as racism and sexism? It’s about questioning and reflecting. What options do I have to influence or deconstruct social power relations?

3.11.2021, 8.11. und 11.11.2021 Workshop (Online): Education and Global Learning - Utopias from North and South for Just Societies

How do we want to learn together for more just societies? What content is needed? What attitudes do we need? What approaches and methods are needed?

In this future workshop, we want to come together with different experiences and perspectives to better shape our learning together. It should be a space for encounter, exchange, criticism, reflection and networking. The goal is also to jointly develop innovative educational project ideas.

Day 1: The workshop starts with getting to know each other and meeting. In the first phase of the Future Workshop we will then exchange our critique of Global Learning and Education for Sustainable Development and other forms of education. The whole workshop will be about content as well as the „how?“ of learning – i.e. didactics.

Day 2: In the second phase we will search for and develop our ideal concepts of learning.

Day 3 and 4: And finally, it will be about what we can do concretely to achieve these ideas. In this third and last phase, we will focus on concrete project planning.

We as organizers see the Future Workshop as a space for participation. We would like to contribute our own criticism, visions and project ideas. We think it is good to ask these questions already here: Is global learning critical enough towards power relations and forms of discrimination? Are the perspectives of different groups of people worldwide taken into account? Is it also possible to involve these groups of people directly in learning and to strengthen them in the process? Which perspectives and contents are not yet sufficiently addressed? Does learning take place hierarchically or at eye level? Is there enough room for emotions and learning with all senses?

Note: There should be room for all learning contexts, although we assume that there will be a focus on out-of-school learning.

26. to 28.11 2021 (Leipzig) Workshop: Radical tenderness - critical and caring for global justice. WORKSHOP POSTPONED UNTIL 2022

********

Unfortunately, the workshop has to be postponed until 2022 due to personal reasons on the part of the speakers. We will inform you in due time on the page of the project „Togehter. Just. Global“ project about a new date.

Climate crisis, racism crisis, corona crisis…External societal crises are also reflected in our own lives, in our emotional worlds and bodies. They affect us all together and yet differently.

People working for radical change, for social and environmental global justice, face multiple political and personal challenges. It is not uncommon for them to despair in the light of challenges, power structures, complex contradictions and the pain they experience in their social engagement.

We invite you to create a shared courageous space for people with different social positionings and experiences, in which we connect different perspectives with openness, mindfulness and „Radical Tenderness“ to also endure unpleasantness.

„Radical tenderness means collectivizing our hearts so that they break open and not apart“ (Dani d‘ Emilia).

Radical tenderness is an invitation to connect critically and lovingly with the contradictory, beautiful and painful things within us, between us and around us, and to break with the culture of separation.

In this seminar we strengthen our critical consciousness, our individual and collective capacities. We focus on activism, social power structures and personal entanglements.

We work with participatory, biographical, nature-, relationship- and body-oriented methods to strengthen different approaches and forces for a resilient social activism.

Notes on the venue: the workshop will take place at the „Gästezentrum Ernst Jäschke“ in Leipzig. Accommodation will be in single and double rooms. From Friday evening to Sunday noon, there is a vegetarian/vegan full board.

Important reference points of my educational approach are anti-racist, feminist and decolonial perspectives. I advocate for radical human love. Timo Holthoff (Hannover): I am a trainer, author and organizational consultant on transformative education and radical change. I have worked for (international) NGOs in the field of global learning for 10 years. I am moved by the connection between the inner and outer world and my unlearning process as a white male. I stand for a loving pedagogy of connection based on a radical critique of the modern crisis system.

04. to 06.02.2022 (Berlin) Workshop: Climate Justice and Communication - Considering Perspectives, Reaching People

********

Your perspective on climate, sustainability and justice is not (enough) noticed? You are reaching parts of society, but not yet in the way you would like? You find that debates on climate, sustainability and justice are distorted by various exclusions and
power relations? Then you’ve come to the right place!

We want to give space to your communicative experiences in the context of climate justice. We
want to discuss with you how a discrimination-sensitive (public)
communication on climate justice can look like. How can postmigrant actors and
perspectives be strengthened in order to improve (public) communication on climate justice?

In doing so, we also want to look at the global level. Here, too, inequality and colonial continuities shape communication between actors and individuals from the global North and South. What should be interacted about more and how in a global exchange in solidarity? And what has caused this to fail so far?

We are concerned with helpful alliance-internal and alliance-external communication. The concept of „transformative mediation“, which is introduced at the beginning of the workshop and transferred to the discourse on climate justice in the course of the workshop, is a guideline and
target here. In the process, various people and initiatives contribute their own experiences from the field of climate justice through impulse contributions.

The three-day workshop will be conducted in an open-process manner by Charlotte Knorr.
